Macrocell Corrosion Currents in Simulated Concrete Pore Solution and Reinforced Concrete

چکیده
Abstract Chloride-induced rebar corrosion is one of the main causes damage in reinforced concrete structures (RCS). Chloride attacks lead to depassivation creating pits, which can imply major losses sections. The current generated at these spots (microcell) contributed by produced between corroded and uncorroded areas (macrocell). influence both currents has been deeply investigated based on solution studies, do not actually represent behaviour concrete-embedded elements. studies about macrocell are interesting analyse this phenomenon quickly simply. However, they must be interpreted as reality RCS because requires using rebars embedded concrete. performed experimental plan verified fact. In addition, another objective study was concrete’s electrical resistance limiting effect cathode/anode surface (Cs/As) ratio For study, specimens manufactured concretes with different properties were used: standard (SC), high-performance (HPC), very (VHPC) ultra-high performance-fibre (UHPFRC). conclusions show how Cs/As plays a key role regulating intensity, but what really governs resistivity it regulates participation bigger or smaller cathode surface. parameter factor fundamental, especially high like VHPC UHPFRC.

This work is a preliminary examination of mechanistic issues on the comparative corrosion performance of regular epoxy-coated rebar (ECR) and dual polymer-zinc coated reinforcement (DCR) in simulated concrete pore solution with and without chloride ions, at polarizations from +100 mV to -1000 mV in the saturated calomel electrode (SCE) scale and exposure periods of 1 month or longer. Both mater...
متن کاملInfluence of Organic Inhibitor on Corrosion Resistance of Steel in Simulated Concrete Pore Solution
Organic corrosion inhibitor is one of lower cost technologies that limit the deterioration of concrete structures. The influence of a newly prepared organic corrosion inhibitor on the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in simulated concrete pore solution was investigated by polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and so on. The effect of organic corrosion inhibitors on conc...

Abstract: Despite having a number of advantages, reinforced concrete can suffer rebar corrosion in high–chloride media, resulting in failure of reinforced concrete structures. In this research the corrosion inhibition capability of the mixture of calcium and ammonium nitrate of steel rebar corrosion was investigated in the simulated concrete pore solution. Cyclic polarization and Electroche...

متن کاملPitting Corrosion Behaviour of New Corrosion-Resistant Reinforcement Bars in Chloride-Containing Concrete Pore Solution
In this study, the pitting behaviour of a new corrosion-resistant alloy steel (CR) is compared to that of low-carbon steel (LC) in a simulated concrete pore solution with a chloride concentration of 5 mol/L. The electrochemical behaviour of the bars was characterised using linear polarisation resistance (LPR) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The pitting profiles were detected b...
